Everything you need to know about detecting Shopify themes
A Shopify theme detector is a free tool that analyzes a store's public HTML code (headers, scripts, and CSS) to identify which Shopify theme and apps it is running. It helps you discover successful themes used by competitors.
Yes, absolutely. Theme detectors only aggregate publicly available information that is visible in the page source code. It does not access any private backend data, sales figures, or customer information.
The easiest way is to use our free tool at the top of this page. Simply paste the store's URL,
and we will identify the theme name and provider instantly. Alternatively, you can view the page
source and search for Shopify.theme.
If a store is "headless" (using Shopify mainly for checkout but a different frontend technology like React), a traditional "theme" doesn't exist. In these cases, we will identify that the site uses Shopify but may label the theme as "Custom/Headless."

Currently, we show you the live theme. We are building a "History" feature that will allow you to see if a store has switched themes recently.
